American Red Cross - Richmond, IN

The American Red Cross in downtown Richmond has been serving Wayne County and the surrounding area since the early 1950’s. They provide disaster and emergency services for those in need. This includes providing cots, blankets, and pillows to local warming stations and fire stations, they host six blood drives annually at numerous locations right here in Richmond, and they provide and install smoke alarms to homes in need. Since moving to their current location at 829 E Main Street in July of 2017, they have provided and installed 1,326 smoke alarms in 513 homes. Since December 1st, 2022, they have responded to 26 fire related incidents. Within these 26 incidents, 127 people have been affected. If selected by those affected, American Red Cross is also able to assist with medical, mental health, and spiritual assistance. If those affected cannot live in the house after the event, they can provide financial assistance as well. Since December of 2022, they have provided those affected with over $31,200.00. Government Operations Liaison Dana Mollenkopf oversees the Richmond office and is very grateful for our community and their support. Outside of his duties, Dana enjoys playing basketball and pickleball. Ahmet Basgelen, Community Resilience Builder, works alongside Dana. Outside of the organization, he enjoys horticulture and trees.
