Mike and Denita Lyons are owners of Lyons Insurance & Real Estate, which is centrally located at 31 S 8th St in Richmond, IN. It has been a family owned and locally operated independent agency since 1886. For three generations, they have been a trusted source for providing a wide range of insurance solutions throughout Indiana and Ohio. Mike’s grandmother, Margaret, was an insurance agent at E.E. Roney. She later purchased the company and renamed it to Lyons Insurance. After serving in the Navy during WWII, Mike’s father, Ted, joined the family business and took ownership in 1964. Mike and Denita met in 1979 while in college and later married in 1986. Mike graduated from Ball State University in 1981 with a degree in Finance and Insurance while Denita graduated from Purdue in 1982 with a Marketing degree. Combined, they have over 80 years of experience in the insurance industry. Mike is an SRA/certified residential appraiser and has been offering these valuation services since 1996. Denita stated “One of our favorite things about being downtown is the friendships we’ve made with other business owners and their staff over the years. Our location gives us a lot of visibility with plenty of parking and we take advantage of the many convenient places that offer lunch.” Outside of work, Mike and Denita enjoy traveling, playing golf, attending sporting events/concerts, and spending time with family and friends.
